He was an orator par excellence, a towering legal luminary and a principled parliamentarian whose insights and nuanced understanding of issues “had very few parallels”.
As the first of all my predecessors in the House of Representatives and also the first from Ilaje since democracy returns, he represented the good people of Ilaje/Ese-odo Federal constituency between 1999 and 2003, having served as the first Executive Chairman of the defunct Ilaje/Ese-odo Local Government Council between 1977 and 1978. He was a former State Secretary of Unity Party of Nigeria(UPN) Parliamentary caucus in the old Ondo state House of Assembly between 1979 and 1982 and subsequently that of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in 1983. A former Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly and also a member of the Presidential Monitoring Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) projects under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Though I cannot exhaust accurately with grief the various capacities this iconic personality had served but the truism is that we’ve lost a rare gem.
My deepest condolences to his family members and well-wishers. May God give them strength. May his soul rest in perfect peace (Amen).
