Shakeup in PDP as Fmr Attorney General dumps party, joins APC

There is palpable shake up in the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as one of its chieftain, Barr. Remi Olatubora joins All Progressive Congress, APC on Saturday.

The Former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General in Ondo State, Hon. Barr. Aderemi Olatubora joined the state ruling party All Progressive Congress, APC at Irele, Irele local government council headquarters.

In a telephone chat with Ikale Voice on Saturday, Hon. Olatubora said that the achievements of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu are crystal, monumental and can be seen everywhere.

He said, “Anybody can criticize anybody. Akeredolu may not have been perfect but he have a lot to show. The bridge at Ore is monumental and other achievements. It is obvious at the grassroots that APC will win.”

“From all indications, Ondo State governorship election would be free and fair and APC is winning. Akeredolu is going to be returned because there are lots to achievements to display,”

“I am of the view that Mimiko spent 8 years. It has to go round. After Akeredolu’s next four years, another person that is interested will continue from there. That is what I think is fair, equitable and just.”

Asked why he dumped his old party, the People’s Democratic Party PDP at this critical time, Olatubora said there is no good time or bad time to disassociate self from any association or group.

Recall, Barrister Remi Olatubora was one of the three delegates that represented Ondo State at the 2014 National Conference in Abuja. He was also a former Commissioner for Adult, Technical and Vocational Education in Ondo State.

The Irele local government chairman, Hon. Segun Ajimotokin, in a chat with Ikale Voice pointed that Olatubora has brought excitement, making the victory of APC even more easier in Ondo State owning to the fact that he has solid political structure in the state.

“There is no doubt that Hon. Olatubora who was a former House of Assembly member 1999 – 2003, a former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General in Ondo State has come to add credence and weight to the status of APC in Irele Local government and in the state at large.”

“We are happy to receive him. It was a voluntary decision of his. It was unconditional. He fell in love with our party because of the performance of the governor. Personally as the Chairman of the council, I feel excited that he is joining our party. It will make our work a lot easier.”

The Council Boss further revealed that Irele local government is a one party local government.

“To talk in terms of figuratively, Irele local government is a one party local government. But of course practically, we have some small political parties like PDP which use to be big but now small and Zenith Labour Party that is trying to gather some few people together.

“We have people in APC that are not just paper weight but people with structure. People like Segro Olowojuni, Hon. Emmanuel Igbasan, SOT, Hon. Sheba, V.O Igbasan, Hon. Ademola, Akinbiola, Femi Okunjemiruwa, Chief Omoge, Iwalewa and host of other top politicians all of them with their structure.

“Anyone saying that they are in other political party like PDP, Zenith Labour Party or others are just there for the sake of being in a political party; definitely not to get any result”

Amongst the leaders that were on ground to welcome Hon. Olatubora were Hon Sheba Abayomi, Hon Samuel Edamisan Ademola, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan, Barr Femi Okunjemiruwa, Ade Ogunje, Dr Christopher Ogunlana, Chief Z.A Omoge, Pa Vincent Igbasan, Hon Nicholas Oluwatobi Akinbiola, Prince Obaetan Awotale, Hon Albert Akintoye and Ade Akinmuda, Hon Afolabi Iwalewa, Hon Jide Akinfe, Comrade Olowojuni Shadrach, Chief Oyeto, Orinpeye Damilola, Councillors and APC Irele Local Government Executives.
