I participated in the Ondo APC Governorship Primary Election that took place on Monday 20th July, 2020 having transvaged the nooks and crannies of Ondo State soliciting the support of members of our party to be elected as the candidate.
There were substantial non compliance with the Guidelines, Rules and Regulations of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the electoral laws.
Personally, I feel very aggrieved by the dirty tactics, orchestrated propaganda and falsehood that I stepped down for the Governor Arakunrin Akeredolu shortly before the commencement of voting exercise. This gravely affected my fortunes at the primary election, caused me loss of reputation, demoralized my supporters who felt I had abandoned them and exultantly caused great disenchantments to my supporters and delegates.
It is correct that one Alex Adeyeye contacted me on Sunday, the 19th of July purporting to represent the Governor and approached me with a view to stepping down for the Governor. I strongly and categorically told him that I could not step in the interest of the people of Ondo State.
However, I was shocked when my supporters, friends and well-wishers all over the world started calling me to the effect that I had stepped down. It was entirely false. I never stepped down.
I do not and have never told any personal grudges against the Governor but believe that free and fair election dictates good governance.
I am a loyal and committed party man. I will remain in the party. In any event, I have commenced appeal proceedings within the Party’s internal appeal mechanism in the interest of the people of Ondo State and good governance.
Pertaining to the crisis in the party both in and out, there’s need to commence the process of true reconciliation among leaders and members of the party at all levels. It is our belief that the decision which has been made couldn’t fetch a good result as expected for a reason best known to us all…
The Youths in particular are furious and not pleased with the way the party is operating in Ondo state.. Just like we’ve been clamouring for proper rearrangement and rebuild from grassroots so as to reframe the falling pillars.
My advise to Mr Governor
• There’s need to form an inclusive government that will allow all the party members to embrace and partake affirmatively.
• Mr Governor should also form a Governor advisory Council to guide the Governor decisions which has caused much rifts in the State and division in the party… *By so doing, it’ll yield a positive result.*
I passionately appeal to our party members especially APC loyalists to stay committed to the party and have in mind that there’s nothing we can share in Zero.
Together we shall build the party and Ondo State of our dream together.
Together we can!!!
