Let me use this opportunity to thank the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for deeming it fit to giving local government administration a new phase by conducting local government election. You will recall that since 1991 after the creation of Irele local government, we had had more caretaker committees than executive administrations. You will agree with me that Mr. Governor deserves a special accolade for given our people the opportunity to elect their leaders at the level of government closest to them. I have no doubt that this singular fit would translate to rapid grassroots development with focus on human capital, youth and women empowerment, infrastructures rejuvenation, accessible and affordable health system for the people, opening up of rural roads and empowering the local government to deliver more social services at the grassroots. These we will do as an administration and in partnership with the Ondo State Government, international organizations and the private sector.

Please, permit me to also thank our party leaders, traditional rulers, and indeed, the good people of Irele local government for given peace a chance in the conduct of the local government election across our communities. This commendable fit must be improved upon before, during and after the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Furthermore, my dear party leaders and the entire people of Irele local government, I can assure you that this is the beginning of a new era to championing the cause of our people by bringing to bear a practical leadership and explore the sustainable development approaches of the global goals to effect changes and bring the dividends of democracy to the greatest number of our people.

Our administration shall make the people to have access to our government to contribute to our programs, policies and new laws to effectively galvanize our developmental agenda in agriculture, health, infrastructures, education, commerce and industry, youth, technology and innovations, and security to trigger human capital, economic growth and development to raise the living standard of the people.

It is worthy to note that we have great tasks ahead of us – to achieve our goals in making lives better for our people, our Administration shall from time to time embark on making bye-laws in order to strengthen the processes of decision making and also giving the citizens the opportunity to make their voices heard in the administration of Irele local government. However, our government shall leave no stone unturned to ensure accountability and transparency in the use of our collective resources – our allocation from the federal government and internally generated revenue (IGR) shall be put to the best use to benefit the greatest number of our people. We are going to employ new approaches and model to collect, account, allocate and disburse our IGR to power our communities for tangible projects which will engage, train and empower the youth, women and artisans for job creation and economic empowerment. The government shall build relationships with local and international organizations to fast track grants, partners and sponsors for community, youth and women oriented programs.

On security and environmental development and sustainability, our government shall harness the primary role of the traditional council to contribute to peace building, and environmental safety across their communities. We are not going to rely only on the police and other security agencies – we will improve on our support for the security agencies and we will ensure that we make security the business of everyone to alert, report and cooperate with law enforcement agents to get ride our communities out of security threats and return peace to every family and individuals to go about their normal daily productive activities which is the backbone of modern economy.

On workforce efficiency, our local government workers are advised to sit tight, take ownership and improve on our social services to the people through proper implementation of government policies at the grassroots. We are going to restructure, train and retrain, and mobilize the local government workforce for improved results.

On primary education and health, we shall make the best use of the resources available at our disposal to strengthen and reposition these sectors for improved service delivery.

Lastly, I want to assure you all that we are going to put aforementioned points into action to uplift the living standard of the people of Irele local government but I want to implore everyone to be ready to put in our best efforts, support and prayers to ensure we succeed. This is an opportunity to do things right and we shall not condone any act capable of sabotaging our goals.

As I conclude, let me reiterate again that a new era is about to begin in Irele Local Government for her citizens and the residents that would trigger growth and development in commerce, education, agriculture, security and environments and other critical sectors. Innovations will be leveraged to drive our administration, empower the creative energy of our youth and women.
