Special Memorial Mass was held at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church Ode Irele today to honor the memory of the heroes fallen for the territorial integrity of Nigeria.
Executive Chairman, Irele Local Government, Hon. (Barr.) Olusegun Ajimotokin, his Vice Hon. Jide Akinfe and some members of staff in the Local Government Council attended the Mass to commemorate the fallen military servicemen ahead of 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
Speaking at the service, the Council Boss said that the contributions of the Nation’s fallen heroes will always be remembered for the supreme price they paid to protect the territorial integrity of the Country.
Hon. Ajimotokin added that the government should continue to do more to improve the welfare of the ex-service men most especially the widows, orphans and other loved ones the departed ones left behind.
He, however, condoled with the family of the fallen heroes, praying to the Almighty God to forgive their shortcoming and grant them eternal rest.
Earlier, the Presiding Reverend, Rev Fr. John Oyinkolade said that everyone in the Armed Forces and positions of authority were called to service of God and humanity.
Rev. Fr. Oyinkolade called for selflessness and humility in service to God and to the Nation, adding that everyone would account for their actions.
He urged those in position of authority to be humble and faithful in their service to God and humanity.
