The Member House of Representatives representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, Hon. Dele Gboluga Ikengboju has warned hoodlums to stay off Ikale land.
Hon. Gboluga made this known in a press statement signed by his Special Adviser Media & Publicity, Mr. Oyeniyi Iwakun and made available to newsmen on Saturday at Okitipupa.
He made the statement following the disturbing news of hoodlums’ infiltration on the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) and the host communities in Okitipupa Local Government Area.
According to Mr. Iwakun, Hon. Gboluga said that, “In the past few days, there have been various reports of criminal elements invading homes and students’ hostels to perpetrate all sorts of atrocities, ranging from robbery, sexual harassment, physical assault, and intimidation of peaceful residents, including students and visitors.”
Hon. Gboluga stressed that the situation becomes more worrisome when it is degenerating into altercation between the Students and the indigenes of the host communities.
The Federal lawmaker cautions all parties involved to “desist from taking any action capable of breaching the law and disrupting the peaceful coexistence among residents.”
Earlier, Hon. Dele Gboluga Ikengboju calls for calm even as he urges security agencies and all concerned stakeholders to swing into action to arrest the situation.
He said, “They should swing into action to arrest the situation by ensuring that a thorough investigation is carried out to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the fracas as well as bringing the culprits to book.”
While reaffirming his commitment to the welfare and safety of all residents in Ikaleland, the lawmaker wishes to emphasize clearly that Ikale land will not be home to any form of criminality or civil disturbances.
