Establish Bitumen Training Institute in Ondo State, BNU Chairman Appeals to FG

The Chairman of Better Nigeria USA, the umbrella development association of Nigerians and Associations in Diaspora, Prof. (Dr.) Salewa Olafioye has appealed to the Federal Government to establish Bitumen Training Institute in Ondo State.

The appeal was made in his congratulatory message to the Ondo State Governor, Barr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, shortly after his victory at the just concluded Ondo State gubernatorial poll.

Prof. Olafioye said that Okitipupa and Irele local government areas of Ondo State are most suitable for the establishment of a Federal Bitumen Institute because the two council areas has the required landscape of not only in Ondo State but South West of Nigeria.

He said, “Okitipupa and Irele local government areas of Ondo State are most suitable for the establishment of a Federal Bitumen Institute because the two council areas has the required landscape of not only in Ondo State but South West of Nigeria. Also, Ilaje or Ese Odo Local government areas should have our Port.”

He called on the State Government and Federal Government to fully declare and recognize Ikale as a Tourist Centre, adding that, “Since Ikale is one of the areas with the biggest deposit of Bitumen in Africa, we sincerely hope that the State and Federal Government will expand immigration departments activities in the area, and we can equally explore the government to site a Federal Bitumen Institute for the use of the state and Nigeria in general.

The former United Nations Diplomat and the Aare of Ikale land, Professor Dr. Salewa Olafioye reemphasized the need for Ondo State people to always strive to live in harmony and be security conscious with the people in other parts of the South West.

” We should equally cooperate with our sons and daughters in the government of the day, give them full support, encouragement, share ideas and pray for them so that we may have a larger share of the dividend of our democracy” he said.

He was full of praise to God, the Secretary of Better Nigeria USA, Ambassador (Chief) Titus Amadi for making the outstanding achievements of the present Executive Committee of Better Nigeria USA and toiling day and night for the overall development and upliftment of Nigeria.

Prof. Olafioye however advised politicians to stop using the youths in the country as thugs to cause civil disturbances and strife.
