The President Ikale Progressive Association Abuja, Barr. Akin Arikawe OON has condemned the recent destruction of the house belonging to Engr. Ife Oyedele, one of Ikale’s illustrious sons, at Okitipupa.
Barr. Akin Arikawe in a media statement obtained by Ikale Voice, expresses the displeasure of his association stating, “We the entire Executives and members of Ikale Progressive Association, Abuja received with dismay and total shock the destruction of the house belonging to Engr. Ife Oyedele, the Executive Director, Niger Delta Company, a man who has hazarded his life and despised all oppositions to ensure that the Ikale land as a whole is rescued from the regime of absolute darkness.”
Barr. Arikawe pointed that Ikale Progressive Association Abuja vehemently condemn and wish to state that the mischievous act is simply the work of enemies of progress and lights.
He said, “We are really saddened by this development and are at a loss to decipher the rationale behind this burning of the house as this is tantamount to using evil to pay good, and which if care is not taken can serve as a deterrent and hence discourage highly placed sons and daughters of Ikale land from coming home to embark on any developmental work geared towards the progress of Ikale Land.”
“We are equally saddened and very disturbed about the destruction of Okitipupa Local Government Secretariat, High Court, the Prison, Police station and other prominent buildings in Okitipupa L.G.A”
He further stressed that while Ikale Progressive Association Abuja identifies with the youths on their legitimate demands for better governance and ensuring the dividends of democracy get to all and sundry, they however condemn the activities of some miscreant who want to hijack and turn the lofty and peaceful protest by the youth into violence.
“We therefore, wish to use this medium to call on the Government to bring to book every one involve in this nefarious acts,” he said.
