The Executive Chairman, Irele Local Government, Hon. (Barr.) Ajimotokin Olusegun Philip has expressed gloominess over the armed robbery attack on Union Bank Plc and the Police Station, both in Irele on Thursday.
The Hon. Ajimotokin was in Akure for some official assignments when the robbery was carried out.
Although, he was quick to inform both the various security agencies as well as appropriate political authorities, the robbers had however successfully carried out their dastardly operations and left before the arrival of the security operatives.
Some money yet to be ascertained as at this report and other valuables were carted away at the Bank and police station respectively (which were the main target) while some people who are now receiving treatment at various hospitals were also seriously injured.
Sad by this invasion, the Hon. Chairman on Friday held a short and emergency meeting with a few High Chiefs which prompted a visit to the attacked Bank and the Police Station to assess the level of damage.
At the 19 Battalion, Okitipupa, Hon. Ajimotokin appealed to the Commanding Officer whose personal vehicle was badly damaged by armed youths who were protesting late arrival of the Soldiers and other security personnel.
The Chairman assured the Army Major of mutual cooperation, promising that Irele community would find solution to his damaged vehicle while his attackers would also face the music.
The Chairman further visited the Irele and Okitipupa General Hospitals to ensure those admitted as a result of the attack were given adequate medical care.
The Chairman believes only unity and cooperation of all members of the Irele community would bring about lasting solution to security problems of our dear community.
